An Update from Hayden’s Ferry Review

You may have seen the recent announcement on our facebook page, or elsewhere, but if not, I’m here to say the rumors are true: Beth Staples, our beloved managing editor for the past five years, will be joining the good people over at UNCW as a lecturer and assistant director of the Publishing Laboratory. We’ll miss her here in Tempe, but we know she’s incredibly excited about this opportunity, and we’re very excited for her. Please join us in congratulating her in the comments section, or on our Facebook page.

So what does this mean for Hayden’s Ferry Review? Well, aside from the loss of an excellent managing editor, the magazine is transitioning into being entirely run by students in the MFA program here. We plan to continue putting out a beautiful magazine full of beautiful words from established and emerging writers alike, and we also have some big ideas for further down the road. For now, though, I will say that you can continue to expect the high standards of quality that Beth helped establish for this journal, both in the writing and visual art we publish and in the care and attention our editors give to the work we receive. At this time, submissions are still being read round the clock, the blog is once again going to kick into high gear, and issue #51 (In the Dark) is coming together beautifully—look for it mid-November. Oh, and our new office has a mini-fridge.
