Beyond “Gender Boundaries”

In 2005’s Issue 36, Hayden’s Ferry Review published a special section titled “Gender Boundaries” examining the place of gender in culture, artistic processes, and personal identity. Beyond “Gender Boundaries” is a student internship project that explores the present and future of “Gender Boundaries,” by examining a selection of pieces published in recent issues of HFR accompanied by interviews with the authors on what gender and creativity mean to them.
Nikolai Ryan (he/they) is an undergraduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a B.A. in English and a 2023-24 editorial intern for Hayden’s Ferry Review. His written work primarily focuses on trans and queer culture and media and can be found on Substack at All Things Have Names.
